Turbine Inspection

Coastal Wind Farm

Coastal Energy PLCNorfolk, UK20255 days

Project Overview

An 18-turbine onshore wind farm requiring annual blade inspection to detect leading-edge erosion and surface defects. DroneVision delivered a complete inspection program with AI-assisted defect classification and maintenance prioritisation.

The Challenge

Turbine blades rotate at up to 80 m/s tip speed and must be locked for close-proximity inspection. Coordinating blade locks across 18 turbines while maintaining energy output required precise scheduling with the operations team.

Our Solution

We developed a rolling inspection schedule that minimised turbine downtime by batching blade locks. Our AI model, trained on 50,000+ blade images, automatically classified defects by severity and generated prioritised maintenance work orders.
